What can I expect in my first therapy session?
A therapist is a regulated healthcare professional who can:
-
Act as a neutral party who can listen and try to understand your experiences without judgment
-
Help you learn about yourself by pointing out patterns and providing honest feedback
-
Teach you specific strategies to deal with problems
-
Provide a safe space to learn and practice new coping skills
-
Help get you connected to additional resources in the community that may be helpful for you
In a first therapy session, we take time to review the forms you will have completed before your first session to discuss what therapy may look like, risks and benefits, payment options, and confidentiality.

I will ask you questions about your current situation, your history, and challenges you are experiencing to help me get to know you better. You will also get to know me throughout the session. It is important that you feel you connect with your counsellor - you should feel safe, comfortable, respected and listened to by your therapist.

At the end of the session we will discuss next steps for you in therapy.
What are your fees for counselling?
My rates for an individual therapy session are as follows:
-
Intake appointment: $100
-
Subsequent Appointments: $100 - $150
I offer appointments on a sliding fee scale. During your intake appointment, we will discuss which fee feels most sustainable to you.

I accept payment via Visa, Mastercard, or E-Transfer.
Is therapy covered by my insurance?
This will depend on the type of insurance coverage your policy allows. Please check to see if your insurance benefits package covers services provided by a Registered Social Worker.

Following payment for a session you will receive a receipt that can be submitted to your insurance provider. I offer direct billing with the following insurance providers: Beneva | SSQ, Blue Cross, Green Shield Canada, and Sunlife | Lumino Health.
Do you offer in person appointments?
I only offer virtual therapy at this time. We can connect for virtual therapy sessions over the phone or through a secure, encrypted video platform.
